Department of Homeless Services (Web & Apps)

Objective: Lead the UI/UX design efforts of the annual and quarterly homeless counts for the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) in both New York City and San Francisco.

For the volunteer, this included creating a streamlined and geo-targeted phone and tablet app, for both iOS and Android, which flow intelligently allowed the user to quickly conduct their mobile surveys on the go.

For DHS, this included creating a real-time dashboard and administrative area, in which the mobile command can see up-to-date progress data and have the ability to make changes in routes, sectors, teams and individuals as needed.

As of recent, this had all been done on paper, so it was great to work on an initiative that is far more efficient than anything done prior and ultimately much more effective in helping DHS achieve their goal—to prevent homelessness when possible; to provide temporary, emergency shelter when needed; and to help individuals and families transition rapidly into permanent housing.

Additional deliverables of mine included a responsive public-facing registration site and corresponding web banners.
